How Do I Determine if a Surgical Facility Meets Proper Safety Standards?

Make sure that the surgical facility is accredited by a national or state recognized accrediting agency or organization. This is the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF). You should be pleased to know that plastic surgery procedures performed in accredited surgical facilities by board-certified plastic surgeons have an outstanding safety record.

A recent study based on more that 400,000 operations performed in accredited facilities found that the rate of serious complications was less than half of 1 percent.
